Dye Job Expectations
Most dye jobs performed cost between $10 and $20, averaging about $15. All customers should expect to be required to specify the color that they want their shoes or purse to be dyed. After picking a color or providing a color swatch, realize that not all fabrics match when dyed the same color. For best results, all customers are encouraged to leave the actual garment being matched to with the dyer. Failure to do so may result in a color that does not match as well as it could have with the actual garment having been left. All dye jobs are solely performed to the dyer’s understanding of your desired color; so the more information we have and the more you understand about the dying process, the more satisfied you should be with your dye job. All customers must specify the lighting condition they wish the shoes to more appropriately match - doing this will guarantee a better match for your special event. As lighting conditions change, so will the color of your garment and the color of the dyed item - sometimes they will change at the same time and to the same color, but it should not always be expected. Though most dyed items are prepared to match to the dyer’s eye within ½ of a shade either lighter or darker in 5 out of 7 lighting conditions. Indoor lighting includes: dark room fluorescent, yellow, shadow, white, and mixed lighting. Outdoor lighting includes shade and direct sunlight. Daylight always varies from dusk and dawn to midday and cloudy lighting conditions. It should be expected that all dye jobs that include red dye will come out more purple or pink in dusk, dawn, or cloudy outdoor lighting though they may match perfectly in direct daylight or indoor lighting. Turnaround time for dyeing is very fast by industry standards - most dye shops take 10 to 14 days to dye shoes - our store dyes shoes on average in 2 days. For customers in a real hurry, we offer expedited same day and next day service for an additional charge. The fastest we can dye is in about one-hour if absolutely required. Dyed items are not rain or waterproof; neither is the satin fabric of the shoe or purse itself. Please avoid getting them wet; water damage can be irreparable. A water-resistant coating may be applied for an additional charge. Though such a coating may minimize damage and staining from wetness, it is no guarantee that staining will not occur if made wet or submerged in liquid. If dyed items do get stained, or if after wearing them after the first dye job, they maybe redyed in our store for an additional charge. Dyed items can never be made white again. Waterproofed shoes are not redyeable. Only made-to-be-dyed items can be dyed. If it isn’t a dyeable brand made of white silk, satin, or crèpe, it is not dyeable. The three main brands of dyeable shoes in America are Touch Ups, Dyeables, and Colorifics. Dyed items are never exchangeable or returnable for credit.
