"A pageant dress has to sparkle," said Ted Massad, owner of Glamorous Heights Prom and Bridal in Tulsa. "It has to flow when they walk. It has to be the paint on the canvas of their body."
Massad said he works closely with the Miss Tulsa and Miss Oklahoma pageants. He specializes in pageant shoes, which he said, must usually be at least 4 inches high.
"A 4-inch heel elongates the leg, it gives you better posture, and that's what it's really about: posture and poise," Massad said. "But I don't want to say that it's all skin deep. It's more than just physical beauty."
